There's no single "download everything" button in Hapn — there are several routes out, and which one you want depends on whether you need a spreadsheet once, the same spreadsheet every Monday, or a live feed into another system.
This page is the map of all of them.
Applies to: the Hapn web app at app.gethapn.com.
1. A spreadsheet, right now — Export CSV
Every report in Hapn exports to CSV. Open Reports in the left sidebar, choose the report, set your date range and any column filters, then select Export CSV at the top right. The file downloads to your browser's downloads folder.
The export honours your filters. Whatever is on screen is what lands in the file — which is a feature when you want one vehicle's month, and a trap when you've forgotten a filter is on. Clear filters first if you want everything.
The reports you can export from:
- Tracker reports — Place Analysis, Tracker Place Analysis, Tracker Positions, Tracker Status and Health, Starter Interrupt Activity Log.
- Asset reports — Trip and Stop History, Asset Activity Overview, Time-Based Activity Analysis, Equipment Telematics Status Report, DTC Fault Code Report, Distance Report, Daily Active Hours, Idling Time, Engine Runtime, Speeding Report, Driving Behavior Report, Fleet Utilization.
- Alert reports — Alerts Feed.
Full detail, including what the columns mean and how to handle encoding and date-format problems in Excel, is in How to Export and Use Report Data.
2. The same spreadsheet on a schedule — Scheduled Reports
If you're exporting the same thing every week, schedule it instead. Set the report up once, then have Hapn email it to you and anyone else who needs it, on the cadence you choose. It arrives whether or not anyone remembers to log in — which is the point.
See How to Schedule a Report by Email.
3. Exactly the columns you want — Custom Reports
If none of the built-in reports has the shape you need, build one. Create Custom Report on the Reports page lets you pick the data and the columns, save it under a name, and then export or schedule it like any other report. Saved custom reports are listed on the Reports page with who created them and when they were last used.
See How to Build a Custom Report.
4. A live feed into another system — the API
For anything continuous — pushing locations into your own dashboard, syncing assets with an ERP, building a customer-facing map — use the Hapn API rather than exporting files on a timer. It's documented, and access is requested through support.
See Hapn API: Documentation, Base URL and Getting Access.
Specific things people ask for
One vehicle's trips for a date range
Trip and Stop History, filtered to that asset and those dates, then Export CSV. If you need every raw position rather than summarised trips, use Tracker Positions instead — it's much larger, so keep the range tight.
Mileage for expenses or tax
Distance Report for totals per asset per period; Trip and Stop History when you need each journey listed with start, end and distance.
Every alert that fired
Alerts Feed report, filtered by type or asset. See Using the Alerts Feed Report.
Engine and diagnostic data
Equipment Telematics Status Report for the current state of the fleet (VIN, ignition, voltage, speed, check engine), and DTC Fault Code Report for fault-code history. Both are OBD and telematics trackers only.
Dash cam footage
Video isn't part of a CSV export — it's requested and downloaded per clip. See Using Your Dash Cam in Hapn: Footage, Requests and Live View.
Showing someone a location without giving them data
If the real need is "let my customer see where the truck is", don't export anything — send a Live Link. To send a colleague the exact filtered map you're looking at, use Copy link to this view; see How to Filter the Live Map, and Save or Share a View.
Exporting a lot of history
Large exports can time out. If one does, narrow the date range and export in chunks — month by month is usually comfortable, week by week for position-level data on a big fleet. Filtering to a subset of assets helps as much as shortening the range.
Before you close an account
Export anything you'll want to keep first. Cancelling a service plan stops the tracker reporting, and deleting your account data removes it. Neither produces an archive for you on the way out.
See How to Cancel Your Service Plan and How to Delete Your Account.
