What is the Alerts Report?
The Alerts Report (Alerts Feed) provides a comprehensive log of all alerts triggered by your trackers. This report serves as a historical record of your custom alerts, allowing you to review past events, identify patterns, and gather actionable insights about your tracked assets.
With this report, you can:
- Monitor when and where specific alerts were triggered
- Review alert history for specific trackers
- Analyze alert patterns over time
- Verify that your alert configurations are working as expected
Accessing the Alerts Report
On the mobile app: tap Menu → Reports, choose the Alert tab and tap Alerts Feed. Filters — including Type — are under the sliders icon (Manage view) at the bottom of the report, next to the alarm clock icon (Schedule) and the download icon (Export CSV).
On the web:
- Log in to your account at app.gethapn.com
- Click on the reports icon on the left-hand side
- Choose "Alerts Feed" from the available report types
Understanding Report Columns
The Alerts Report includes several columns that provide detailed information about each alert:
Tracker
- The name of the tracker that triggered the alert
- Examples: "GV500MAP_test", "Hapn Bridge 4055", "Maple"
Type
- The category of alert
- Common types include: Low External Voltage, Low Battery, Movement, Boundary, Speed
Details
- Specific information related to the alert type
- For Voltage alerts: The voltage reading (e.g., "12.59", "0")
- For Battery alerts: The battery percentage (e.g., "2%")
- For Speed alerts: The recorded speed
- For Boundary alerts: The boundary name
Date
- The date and time when the alert was triggered
- Format: "Tue, May 20 2025 10:46:49 am"
Location
- The full address where the alert occurred
- Examples: "10170 Tin Maple Dr, Estero, FL 33928", "741 4th St NE, Naples, FL 34120"
As shown in the screenshot above, alerts are listed chronologically with the most recent alerts at the top. This makes it easy to see your most recent alert activity at a glance.
These five are the complete set — the Alerts Feed has no optional columns to switch on. You can still hide any of them from the Columns panel in the report toolbar, and a hidden column is left out of the CSV export as well. For the columns and filters of every other Hapn report side by side, see Every Hapn Report and What's In It.
Need an ignition on/off log? Set up the Ignition On and Ignition Off alerts, then filter this report's Type to those two and export. No other report keeps ignition history — see Seeing When a Vehicle's Ignition Turned On and Off.
Filtering the Alerts Report
To get the most value from the Alerts Report, use the filtering options to focus on specific information:
- Select Filters in the report toolbar (on the mobile app, tap the sliders icon (Manage view) at the bottom)
- Choose the column to filter:
- Tracker filter: Select specific trackers from the list
- Type filter: Choose which alert types to display
- Date filter: Select a date range or specific dates
- Location filter: Filter by address or location
Tip: When working with a large number of alerts, start by filtering to a specific date range or tracker to make the data more manageable.
Practical Uses and Best Practices
Effective Ways to Use the Alerts Report
For Fleet Management:
- Review speeding alerts weekly with drivers to improve safety
- Monitor boundary violations to ensure vehicles stay within approved areas
- Track after-hours vehicle usage by filtering movement alerts by time
For Asset Protection:
- Monitor low battery alerts to ensure trackers remain operational
- Identify patterns of unauthorized movement
- Review voltage alerts to detect potential equipment issues
For Employee Monitoring and Training:
- Use speeding alerts to identify drivers who need additional safety training
- Verify adherence to approved routes through boundary alerts
- Confirm vehicles are being operated during authorized hours
Best Practices
- Focus on specific alerts or trackers rather than viewing all alerts at once
- Create regular review schedules (daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly depending on your needs)
- Export important alert data for record-keeping or to share with team members
- Use consistent filtering parameters when comparing data across time periods
- Look for patterns in alerts that might indicate broader issues or opportunities
Exporting Alert Data
To save or share your Alerts Report:
