Important: Most alert settings can only be configured through the web app at app.gethapn.com. The mobile app allows you to temporarily silence notifications using Do Not Disturb mode.
Understanding Alert Types
Hapn offers a comprehensive range of alerts organized into five categories:
Location and Movement Alerts
- Boundary Entry/Exit: Get notified when your tracker enters or exits your defined boundaries
- Movement: Get a notification if the tracker moves (may trigger accidentally in case of GPS drifting)
- Trip Exceeds Distance/Duration: Get alerts when a trip exceeds your set distance or time limits
Tracker Status Alerts
- Charging Started/Stopped: Get notifications when your tracker begins or ends charging
- Power Source Connection/Disconnection: Alerts when the tracker connects to or disconnects from a power source
- Hapn Mesh In/Out of Range: Notifications when the tracker enters or exits the mesh safe zone
- External Voltage (High/Low): Alerts when the external power source exceeds or drops below set voltage levels
- Low Battery: Notification when battery falls below your set percentage
- Low External Battery: Alert when connected external battery falls below set percentage (only for trackers with external battery readings)
- Online/Offline: Get notified when your tracker connects or loses connection
- Pairing Connection Established/Lost: Alerts about connection status between primary and secondary trackers
- Awaiting Pairing Connection: Notification when the tracker awaits a pairing connection
Driver Safety Alerts
- Speeding: Get notified if the tracker exceeds your set speed limit
Asset Status & Health Alerts
- Ignition On/Off: Notifications when the vehicle engine turns on or off (OBD and hard-wired trackers only)
Security and Sensor Alerts
- Light Sensor Exposure Started/Ended: Alerts when the front light sensor detects changes in light (GL500 series only)
- SOS: Emergency notification when the SOS button is pressed
- Tamper Sensor Light Exposure Started/Ended: Notifications when the GL500 series tracker rear light sensor is exposed to or removed from light
Task Deadline Alerts
- Task Due Date Monitoring: Get notifications when tasks are approaching or past their due dates
Setting Up Alerts (Web App)
Accessing the Alerts Page
- Log in to your account at app.gethapn.com
- Click the menu icon in the top left corner
- Select "Alerts" from the menu options
- Click "Alert Configuration" to view and manage your alerts
Creating a New Alert
- From the Alert Configuration page, click "Create Alert" in the top right corner
- The alert creation form will open, starting with the "Alert Type" section:
- Select the alert type you want to create (e.g., Boundary Entry, Movement, etc.)
- Enter a descriptive name for your alert
- Add a description that explains what this alert will monitor
- Configure specific settings based on your alert type:
- For Boundary alerts: Select which boundaries to monitor ("Active Everywhere" monitors all boundaries)
- For other alerts: Set parameters specific to that alert type (speed limits, battery percentage, etc.)
- Select which trackers will trigger this alert:
- Choose "All trackers" to apply the alert to every tracker in your account
- Or select specific trackers from the dropdown list
- Set the active time for your alert:
- Choose "Always Active" if you want the alert to work at all times
- Or set a custom schedule by selecting specific days and times
- Configure notification recipients:
- Toggle settings to notify specific user groups:
- Me: Only you will receive the notification
- All Users: Everyone with access to your account
- All Admins: Only administrators
- All Collaborators: Users with shared access
- Add additional recipients by entering email addresses or phone numbers in the search field
- Toggle settings to notify specific user groups:
- Click "Save" to activate your new alert
Editing or Deleting Alerts
- From the Alert Configuration page, locate the alert you want to manage
- Click the three dots (⋮) to the right of the alert name
- Select an option:
- Edit: Modify any alert settings
- Duplicate: Create a copy of the alert with the same settings
- Delete: Remove the alert entirely
- If editing, make your changes and click "Save"
Managing Notifications (Mobile App)
While you can't create or edit alerts from the mobile app, you can temporarily silence your notifications.
Using Do Not Disturb Mode
- Open the Hapn mobile app and log in to your account
- Tap the menu icon in the bottom right corner
- Under "Preferences," tap "Alerts and Notifications"
- Toggle the switch next to "Do Not Disturb" to enable or disable
- Tap "Save Changes" at the bottom of the screen
When Do Not Disturb is enabled, you won't receive any notifications on your mobile device, but alerts will still be recorded in your account history.

How long does it take for a new alert to become active?
New alerts become active immediately after saving.
Will I still receive email notifications if the mobile app is in Do Not Disturb mode?
Yes, Do Not Disturb only affects notifications on your mobile device. Email and SMS notifications will still be sent.
