Introduction
This guide explains how to add a new GPS tracker to your existing Hapn account. Whether you're expanding your fleet, tracking additional assets, or replacing an old device, you can easily add new trackers to your service using either our web app or mobile app.
Important Note: Only the Account Owner can add new devices to an account. If you are an Admin or Collaborator, you will not have permission to add devices. Contact your Account Owner if you need a device added.
Before You Begin
Before adding a new device, make sure you have:
- Your Hapn account login credentials
- The new tracker's IMEI number (located on the device or its packaging)
- A payment method for any additional subscription fees
- The physical tracker ready for activation
Adding a Device To Your Account

Click here to visit our activation page at checkout.gethapn.com to begin the setup process.
- Sign in to your existing account
- Locate the IMEI number printed on the back of your tracker and enter it in the required field. Need help finding it? Check out our guide: Where do I Find my Trackers IMEI Number?
- Review the available subscription plans and choose the one that best fits your needs.
- Decide whether you'd like to add TrackerCare Plus Protection to your order. This optional plan provides additional coverage for your device. You can opt in or skip this step based on your preferences.
- Review your selected subscription plan and enter your billing information to process the payment. Double-check all details before confirming your order.
- You're all set! Your tracker is now activated and ready to use. Log in to your account at app.gethapn.com or on the mobile app to see your tracker.
After Adding Your Device
Once you've completed the activation process:
- Your new tracker will immediately appear in your Hapn account
- The subscription fee will be charged to your payment method
- You'll need to set up the physical tracker to begin reporting its location

Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
"Invalid IMEI" error message
- Double-check the IMEI number on your device
- Make sure you've entered all numbers correctly
- Ensure the device hasn't already been activated on another account
"Not authorized" error message
- Verify you are logged in as the Account Owner
- Admins and Collaborators cannot add new devices
Payment processing issues
- Verify your payment card is valid and has not expired
- Check that your billing address is correct
- Try using a different payment method if available
Device not appearing after activation
- Refresh your Hapn app or web browser
- Check that the device is properly powered on
- Take your tracker outside to help it establish GPS and cellular connections
