Introduction
This guide explains how to add a new GPS tracker to your existing Hapn account. Whether you're expanding your fleet, tracking additional assets, or replacing an old device, you can easily add new trackers to your service using either our web app or mobile app.
Important Note: Only the Account Owner can add new devices to an account. If you are an Admin or Collaborator, you will not have permission to add devices. Contact your Account Owner if you need a device added.
Before You Begin
Before adding a new device, make sure you have:
- Your Hapn account login credentials
- The new tracker's IMEI number (located on the device or its packaging)
- A payment method for any additional subscription fees
- The physical tracker ready for activation
Adding a Device Through the Web App
Step 1: Access Your Account
- Visit app.gethapn.com in your web browser
- Log in using your email and password
Step 2: Navigate to Account Settings
- Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the upper right corner of the screen
Step 3: Start the Activation Process
- Select the "Billing" tab from the menu across the top
- Click "Activate a new tracker" from the available options
Step 4: Verify Your Identity
- For security purposes, enter your account password when prompted
- Click "Continue" to proceed
Step 5: Complete the Activation Form
- Enter the IMEI number of your new device
- Create a name for your tracker (e.g., "Delivery Van 3" or "Equipment Trailer")
- Select your preferred subscription plan
- Review the pricing information
- Enter or confirm your payment details
- Click "Activate" to complete the process
Adding a Device Through the Mobile App
Step 1: Open the Mobile App
- Launch the Hapn mobile app on your device
- Sign in with your email and password
Step 2: Access Account Settings
- Tap the menu icon in the bottom right corner of the screen
- Scroll down to the "Preferences" section
- Tap on "Account"
Step 3: Start the Activation Process
- Click the three dots (⋮) in the top right corner of the Account screen
- Select "Activate a new tracker" from the popup menu
Step 4: Verify Your Identity
- For security purposes, enter your account password when prompted
- Tap "Continue" to proceed
Step 5: Complete the Activation Form
- Enter the IMEI number of your new device
- Create a name for your tracker
- Select your preferred subscription plan
- Review the pricing information
- Enter or confirm your payment details
- Tap "Activate" to complete the process
After Adding Your Device
Once you've completed the activation process:
- Your new tracker will immediately appear in your Hapn account
- The subscription fee will be charged to your payment method
- You'll need to set up the physical tracker to begin reporting its location

Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
"Invalid IMEI" error message
- Double-check the IMEI number on your device
- Make sure you've entered all numbers correctly
- Ensure the device hasn't already been activated on another account
"Not authorized" error message
- Verify you are logged in as the Account Owner
- Admins and Collaborators cannot add new devices
Payment processing issues
- Verify your payment card is valid and has not expired
- Check that your billing address is correct
- Try using a different payment method if available
Device not appearing after activation
- Refresh your Hapn app or web browser
- Check that the device is properly powered on
- Take your tracker outside to help it establish GPS and cellular connections
