What Is an IMEI Number?
An IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is a unique 15-digit identification code assigned to your Hapn tracker. This number is required during the activation process to register your device to your account and enable tracking services.
Finding Your IMEI Before Activation
On the Tracker Device
The IMEI number is printed directly on your tracker. The exact location varies by model:
- Atlas, Atlas Mini, and Atlas XL: On the back of the device below the barcode
- Pulse OBD: On the side of the device near the connection port
- Hardwired Tracker: On the top of the device next to the model number
- Pulse Moto: On the underside of the device
On the Packaging
Your IMEI number is also printed on:
- The outside of the product box
- The warranty card included inside the packaging
- A separate sticker sheet included with documentation

If your tracker is already activated, you can find its IMEI number in the mobile app:
- Open the Hapn mobile app
- Tap the menu icon (☰) in the upper left corner
- Select "Trackers" from the menu
- Select your tracker from the list
- Scroll down to "Device Information" to view the IMEI
Alternatively, you can use the barcode scanner feature:
- Tap the search icon in the upper right corner of the home screen
- Tap the barcode icon at the right end of the search bar
- Scan the barcode on your tracker or packaging
- The app will immediately locate and select your tracker
Using the Web App
To find your tracker's IMEI in the web application:
- Log in to your account at app.gethapn.com
- Click the Menu icon in the upper left corner
- Select "Asset and Tracker Management" from the menu
- Click on your tracker's name
- The IMEI number is displayed in the "Details" section
IMEI Number Format
A Hapn tracker IMEI number:
- Contains exactly 15 digits
- Has no letters or special characters
- Usually begins with 8
- Example format: 862345678912346
When entering your IMEI during activation, be careful to enter all digits correctly. A single incorrect digit will prevent successful activation.
Troubleshooting IMEI Issues
If you're having trouble locating or reading your tracker's IMEI number:
- Try using a flashlight to improve the visibility of the number on the device
- Take a clear, close-up photo of the IMEI label to make it easier to read
- If the IMEI number is damaged or unreadable, contact our support team with your order information
- Never guess an IMEI number; using an incorrect IMEI will prevent activation
