What Is an IMEI Number?
An IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number is a unique 15-digit identification code assigned to your Hapn tracker. This number is required during the activation process to register your device to your account and enable tracking services.
Finding Your IMEI Before Activation
On the Tracker Device
The IMEI number is printed directly on your tracker. The exact location varies by model:
- Atlas, Atlas Mini, and Atlas XL: On the back of the device below the barcode
- Pulse OBD: On the side of the device near the connection port
- Hardwired Tracker: On the top of the device next to the model number
- Pulse Moto: On the underside of the device
On the Packaging
Your IMEI number is also printed on:
- The outside of the product box
- The warranty card included inside the packaging
- A separate sticker sheet included with documentation
Finding Your IMEI After Activation
Using the Mobile App
If your tracker is already activated:
- On the Live screen, tap the tracker (or search for it with the search icon at the top). Its card opens.
- Open the Tracker section of the card. It shows the model, the IMEI and the SIM's ICCID.
Every tracker's IMEI is also listed under Menu → Settings → Billing, beneath its name.
Scanning instead of typing: in the mobile app, tap Menu → Scanner and scan the barcode or QR code on the tracker or its packaging. The first time, your phone asks to let Hapn use the camera; allow it. If you declined, tap Allow camera access on the Scanner screen.
Using the Web App
- Log in at app.gethapn.com.
- Select the tracker on the Live Map, or type its name into Find assets.
- The IMEI is shown under Tracker Details in the panel on the left.
IMEI Number Format
A Hapn tracker IMEI number:
- Contains exactly 15 digits
- Has no letters or special characters
- Usually begins with 8
- Example format: 862345678912346
When entering your IMEI during activation, be careful to enter all digits correctly. A single incorrect digit will prevent successful activation.
Troubleshooting IMEI Issues
If you're having trouble locating or reading your tracker's IMEI number:
- Try using a flashlight to improve the visibility of the number on the device
- Take a clear, close-up photo of the IMEI label to make it easier to read
- If the IMEI number is damaged or unreadable, contact our support team with your order information
- Never guess an IMEI number; using an incorrect IMEI will prevent activation
