How to Set or Reset Your Tracker's Odometer

Yes — on trackers that support it, you can set the odometer to a specific value. It's in the tracker's Advanced Settings, under Vehicle Metrics. Setting it sends an over-the-air update to the device, so the new value isn't always instant.

Applies to: plug-in (OBD) trackers that report vehicle metrics. If you don't see a Vehicle Metrics section in Advanced Settings, your tracker doesn't support setting these values.

When the custom odometer applies — and when it doesn't

Your tracker does not keep a second, separate odometer that runs alongside your vehicle's. Which value Hapn uses depends on what your vehicle reports:

• If the device reports the vehicle's odometer, that reading takes precedence and is what Hapn shows. The custom value is disabled — setting it will not change the odometer you see.
• If Hapn doesn't receive an odometer reading from the vehicle, the custom value is what's used. This is what the setting is for.

So before changing anything, check the Telematics tab under Engine & Diagnostics. If an Odometer value is reported there alongside VIN and engine hours, your vehicle is supplying it and there is nothing to set.

There's also no universal starting value for the odometer — depending on the device and setup, the initial figure is either reported by the device or entered by you.

How to set the odometer

1. Open the tracker from the map or your asset list.
2. Select Edit Tracker Settings (or the settings icon in the tracker's details panel), then open the Tracker Details tab.
3. Scroll down and expand Advanced Settings (described as "Trip settings, network, device actions & more").
4. Under Vehicle Metrics, find Tracker Odometer. The current value is shown next to it.
5. Select Update.
6. Enter the value you want in Mileage, and choose Units — miles or km.
7. Select Update to confirm.

What happens after you set it

• The change requires an over-the-air update to the device. It can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours, depending on the tracker's configuration.
• You can't make additional changes while the update is in progress.

Setting active hours

Active Hours sits directly above Tracker Odometer in the same Vehicle Metrics section and is set the same way: it shows the current value, and Update lets you enter a custom one.

• The starting value is normally the one you enter. Some trackers connected to a machine can pull the value from the machine instead, where the machine provides it.
• Hardwired trackers such as the GV57 work differently. Their Active Hours are calculated by Hapn rather than reported by the device, so they aren't set here.
• On vehicles that report it, Engine Hours from the vehicle appears separately in the Telematics tab.
