Overview
The search feature helps you quickly locate specific trackers when managing multiple devices. Instead of scrolling through long lists, you can find trackers by name, IMEI number, or by scanning their barcode.
When to use search:
- You have many trackers and need to find a specific one quickly
- You want to look up a tracker using its physical label or IMEI
- You need to verify a tracker's details during installation or maintenance
Accessing the Search Feature
- Open the Hapn mobile app and log in to your account
-
Navigate to the search function
- Look at the bottom navigation menu
- Tap the "Search" icon (magnifying glass)
-
Access the search bar
- The search screen will open with a search bar at the top
- You'll also see a barcode scanner icon in the top right corner
Search Methods
Search by Tracker Name
This is the quickest method when you know your tracker's display name.
- Tap the search bar at the top of the search screen
-
Start typing your tracker's name
- Search works with partial names (e.g., typing "Van" will find "Delivery Van #1")
- Search is not case-sensitive
- Select your tracker from the results list that appears
- Tap the tracker name to open its details and management options
Example: If your tracker is named "Company Truck #3", you can search for "truck", "company", or "3" to find it.
Search by IMEI Number
Use this method when you need to identify a tracker using its unique IMEI number.
- Locate the IMEI number on your physical tracker (usually on a label on the back or bottom)
- Tap the search bar at the top of the search screen
-
Type the IMEI number
- You can enter the full IMEI or just the last few digits
- The app will show matching results as you type
- Select your tracker from the results list
- Tap the tracker to access its settings and information
When to use IMEI search:
- During initial tracker setup to verify you're configuring the correct device
- When multiple trackers have similar names
- For technical support when you need to reference a specific device

Quick Access Options

- Use the map icon to view the tracker's current location
- Access the menu (⋮) for additional options like settings or sharing
Tips for Effective Searching
Naming Best Practices
- Use descriptive names that are easy to remember and search
- Include identifying information like vehicle numbers or locations
- Avoid special characters that might complicate searching
- Be consistent with naming conventions across multiple trackers
Search Strategies
- Start with fewer letters and narrow down results
- Try different terms if your first search doesn't work (e.g., "truck" vs "vehicle")
- Search by IMEI when dealing with multiple similar trackers
Managing Multiple Trackers
- Organize by groups using consistent naming (e.g., "Fleet-Truck-01", "Fleet-Truck-02")
- Use location-based names for stationary assets
- Include purpose in names (e.g., "Delivery Van", "Service Truck")
Troubleshooting
If Your Tracker Doesn't Appear in Search Results
Check your spelling and try variations:
- Verify you're typing the name correctly
- Try searching for just part of the name
- Check if the tracker name contains numbers or special characters
Verify the tracker is in your account:
- Make sure you're logged into the correct account
- Check if the tracker might be assigned to a different user
- Confirm the tracker is activated and properly configured
For IMEI searches:
- Double-check the IMEI number on the physical device
- Try entering just the last 6-8 digits of the IMEI
- Make sure you're reading the IMEI, not a different number on the label
If Search Is Too Slow or Unresponsive
- Check your internet connection - search requires data connectivity
- Close and restart the app to refresh the connection
- Try searching with fewer characters to reduce processing time
- Update the app if you haven't done so recently
