Overview
If you've been unsubscribed from Hapn text message alerts, you'll need to re-subscribe at the carrier level before you can receive SMS notifications again. Simply enabling SMS alerts in the Hapn app won't work if you've been unsubscribed from our messaging service.
Quick Solution: Text "START" to 90922 to re-subscribe.
Why You Might Be Unsubscribed
You may have been unsubscribed from SMS alerts if you:
- Replied "STOP" to a previous Hapn text message
- Used carrier blocking features to block messages from our number
- Changed phone numbers without updating your Hapn account
- Had delivery failures that caused automatic unsubscription
- Contacted your carrier to block promotional messages
Important: Once unsubscribed at the carrier level, the Hapn app cannot override this setting. You must re-subscribe through the SMS system first.
How to Re-subscribe
Step 1: Send the Re-subscription Text
- Open your phone's messaging app
- Create a new text message
- Enter the phone number: 90922
- Type the message: START (case doesn't matter)
- Send the message
Step 2: Wait for Confirmation
You should receive a confirmation message within a few minutes that reads:
"You have successfully been re-subscribed to messages from this number. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg&Data Rates May Apply."
Verifying Your Re-subscription
Check Your Hapn Account
- Log in to the Hapn app or web platform
- Go to your account settings or alert preferences
- Ensure SMS/text alerts are enabled for the notifications you want
- Verify your phone number is correct in your account
Test with a Simple Alert
- Create a test alert (such as a low battery alert with a high threshold)
- Wait for the alert to trigger or trigger it manually if possible
- Check if you receive the SMS notification
Setting Up Alerts After Re-subscribing
Once you've re-subscribed to SMS messages, you can configure text alerts in your Hapn account:
- Access the Alerts section in the web app
- Create or edit alerts you want to receive via SMS
- Select SMS/Text as the notification method
- Save your alert settings
For detailed instructions on setting up alerts, see our Alert Configuration Guide.
Troubleshooting
If You Don't Receive a Confirmation Message
- Wait up to 30 minutes - SMS delivery can sometimes be delayed
- Check your phone number - Ensure you're texting from the number associated with your Hapn account
- Verify the number - Make sure you're texting 90922, not a different number
- Check your spam/blocked folder - Some phones filter unknown numbers
If Re-subscription Doesn't Work
- Contact your carrier - Ask if they're blocking short code messages (like 90922)
- Try from a different phone - Test if the issue is device-specific
- Update your Hapn account - Ensure your phone number is current in your account settings
- Wait 24 hours - Some carrier systems have delays in processing subscriptions
If You Still Don't Receive Alerts After Re-subscribing
- Check your Hapn alert settings - Ensure SMS is selected as a notification method
- Verify your phone number - Make sure it's correct in your account
- Test with multiple alert types - Try both boundary and battery alerts
- Check your phone's message blocking - Ensure Hapn numbers aren't blocked
