Every Hapn tracker keeps a record of where it’s been. But a van that reports every few seconds and a battery tracker that checks in a few times an hour leave very different trails, and they deserve different views. That’s why Hapn now has two history pages: Trips and Locations.
Which one you see depends on one thing: how often your tracker reports while it’s moving. Watch the walkthrough below, then read on for the details.
Trips or Locations: Which One Is Mine?
- Trips is for trackers that report faster than once a minute while moving, usually hardwired and OBD trackers. That steady stream of points lets Hapn draw each route and detect every stop.
- Locations is for trackers that report every minute or slower, usually battery-powered trackers that check in less often to save power. Instead of building trips, Hapn shows every check-in as it came in.
You don’t have to keep track of which is which. In the Trips tracker picker, check-in trackers are labeled Opens in Locations, and choosing one takes you straight there with the same dates selected.
Trips: Your Fleet’s Day in One List
Pick a day and Trips lists every trip across your fleet, with the start and end address, duration, distance, and top speed for each. Totals for trips, distance, alerts, and issues sit across the top. Quick filters like With alerts, Speeding, and After hours narrow the list in one click.
Select a single vehicle and its trips and stops line up in order, so you can see where it went and how long it stayed at each job. Click any trip to replay it on the map in Time Machine, or export what you’re looking at to CSV.
Locations: Every Check-In, Day by Day
Locations is a new page in the main menu built for trackers that report less often. It groups every check-in by day, and each one shows:
- Status: whether the tracker was stopped or moving, with its speed on every moving report.
- Where and when: the address, the time, and the name of any saved place it was at.
- Battery: the battery level at each check-in, plus how much was used over the range.
Each day starts with a one-line summary of places visited, time stopped and moving, reports, and battery, so you can read a week at a glance. Filter to reports With alerts, movement After hours, or time Not in a place, or search by address or place. Click any check-in to see it on the map in Time Machine, or choose View timeline on map to see the whole range at once.
Why It Matters
Mixed fleets are the norm: hardwired trackers in the trucks, battery trackers on trailers, generators, and rental equipment. Until now, slower trackers didn’t have a history view built for how they report. With Trips and Locations side by side, every tracker you own has a clear answer to “where was it, and what was it doing?” And both pages work on your phone, too.
