Using the Tracker Place Analysis Report – Hapn Help Center

Tracker Place Analysis is Place Analysis turned around. Instead of picking a place and seeing which trackers visited it, you pick a tracker and see every place it has been — with arrival times, departure times and how long it stayed at each one.

Applies to: the Hapn web app at app.gethapn.com. You need at least one place set up first — see Creating and Managing Places: Complete Guide.

Which report do I want?

“Who came to my yard this week?” — use Place Analysis.
“Where has this machine been?” — use Tracker Place Analysis, below.

Open the report

Select Reports in the left sidebar.
Under Tracker Reports, select Tracker Place Analysis.
On the Pick a tracker to analyze screen, search by name or scroll the list, then select the tracker.

The report opens on the last 7 days. The tracker name at the top left is a dropdown, so you can move to another tracker without starting over.

Reading the table

One row per visit, newest first: Place, Entry Time, Exit Time, Duration and Status. On a completed visit, Status reads Outside — the tracker has since left.

Two things that surprise people:

Very short durations are normal. A vehicle that drives past the edge of a place, or clips a corner of it, produces a visit measured in seconds. If your table is full of five- and ten-second visits, the place is probably drawn over a road it doesn't need to cover.
Overlapping places each get their own row. If two of your places cover some of the same ground, one stop can appear twice — once for each place — with different durations.

Use Columns to reorder or hide columns, Filters to narrow the rows, and Export CSV for a spreadsheet copy.

What it's good for

Settling a “was the crew on site?” question with times rather than memory.
Checking that a piece of equipment actually went back to the yard at the end of a job.
Backing up an invoice with time on site — Export CSV, and the dates and durations go with it.
