Overview
Your account time zone determines how dates and times are displayed throughout the Hapn platform, including tracker history, reports, and alert timestamps. You can change your time zone setting at any time using either the web app or mobile app.
Important: Changing your time zone only affects how times are displayed to you. It does not change when alerts are triggered or affect your tracker's actual reporting times.
Changing Time Zone on the Web App

Log in to your account
- Visit app.gethapn.com in your web browser
- Enter your email and password

Access account settings
- Click the settings icon (⚙️) in the upper right corner of the screen

Navigate to time zone settings
- Select the "Account" tab from the menu at the top
- Locate the "Time Zone" dropdown menu

Select your time zone
- Click the dropdown menu next to "Time Zone"
- Choose your preferred time zone from the list
- The list is organized by geographic regions and major cities

Save your changes
- Click "Save" at the bottom of the page
- Your new time zone setting will take effect immediately
Changing Time Zone on the Mobile App

Open the mobile app
- Launch the Hapn mobile app on your device
- Log in with your email and password if needed

Access the menu
- Tap the menu icon in the bottom right corner of the screen

Navigate to settings
- Scroll down to the "Preferences" section
- Tap "Settings"

Select your time zone
- Tap "Time Zone" to view available options
- Scroll through the list and select your preferred time zone
- Tap "Done" when you've made your selection

Save your changes
- Tap "Save Changes" at the bottom of the screen
- Your new time zone setting will be applied immediately
What Time Zone Changes Affect
When you change your account time zone, the following will be updated:
Updated Display Times
- Tracker history and location timestamps
- Report data and exported files
- Alert notification times
- Trip and stop times in activities
- Time Machine playback timestamps
Not Affected
- Alert scheduling - Alerts continue to trigger based on your original settings
- Tracker reporting intervals - Devices continue reporting at their configured frequency
- Data collection times - Historical data timestamps are preserved in UTC and converted for display
Frequently Asked Questions
Will changing my time zone affect my tracker's performance? No, time zone changes only affect how times are displayed in your account. Your tracker will continue operating normally.
Can I set different time zones for different trackers? No, the time zone setting applies to your entire account. All trackers and data will be displayed using the same time zone.
What if I don't see my time zone in the list? The list includes all standard time zones. Select the major city or region closest to your location that observes the same time zone.
Will my historical data change? The timestamps on your historical data will be updated to reflect the new time zone, but the actual data remains unchanged.
Do I need to restart my trackers after changing time zones? No, your trackers do not need to be restarted. The time zone change only affects the display in your account.
