Overview
Customizing your tracker's name and icon makes it easier to identify specific assets on the map, especially when managing multiple trackers. A descriptive name and appropriate icon help you quickly distinguish between different vehicles, equipment, or assets.
What you can customize:
- Tracker display name
- Map icon appearance
- Icon color (where available)
Customizing on the Web App

Log in to your account
- Visit app.gethapn.com in your web browser
- Enter your email and password

Navigate to tracker management
- From the menu on the left-hand side, select "Asset and Tracker Management"

Select your tracker
- Find the tracker you want to customize in the list
- Click on the tracker name to open its settings

Edit tracker details
- In the "Basic Information" section, you can modify:
- Tracker Name: Enter a descriptive name for easy identification
- Tracker Description: Add additional details (optional)

Icon: Click the current icon to see available options
- In the "Basic Information" section, you can modify:

Save your changes
- Click "Save" at the top of the page
- Your changes will be applied immediately to the map view
Customizing on the Mobile App

Open the mobile app
- Launch the Hapn mobile app on your device
- Log in with your account credentials

Access tracker settings
- Tap on your tracker icon on the map to open the tracker card
- Scroll down to find "Tracker Options"
- Tap "Tracker Settings"

Edit tracker information
- Change the name: Tap the name field and enter your new tracker name
- Change the icon: Tap "Edit Icon" to view available icon options
- Select your preferred icon from the available choices
4. Save your changes

- Tap "Save" in the upper right corner
- Your updated name and icon will appear on the map immediately
Tips for Effective Naming
Use Descriptive Names
- Good: "Delivery Truck #3", "John's Service Van", "Construction Trailer"
- Avoid: "Tracker 1", "Device", "GPS"
Include Identifying Information
- Vehicle number or license plate
- Employee or driver name
- Equipment type or model
- Location or route designation
Keep Names Concise
- Aim for 15-20 characters or less for best mobile display
- Use abbreviations when necessary (e.g., "Truck" instead of "Vehicle")
- Avoid special characters that might not display properly
Match Icons to Assets
- Choose icons that visually represent your actual asset
- Use consistent icon types across similar assets
- Consider using colors to group related assets
Your changes take effect immediately! Once saved, your new tracker name and icon will be visible on all map views and in reports.
