Applies to: Hapn Atlas (also sold as the Spytec Atlas / GL300) · Platform: Hapn mobile and web apps
The Atlas GL300 GPS Tracker is a do-it-all device, with tons of capabilities. Small size plus battery powered functionality make it supremely flexible. Hapn's Reporting Mode options allow the tracker to update extremely fast for maximum positional data or as low as once a day for longer battery life.
This manual will help you get started. Welcome to Hapn!
What's in the box

Step 1 - Locate your IMEI
Locate the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number on the back of your tracker or bottom of the box. The number is 15 digits long. You will need it to activate the device in Step 2.
Step 2 - Activate your tracker
- From your computer or smartphone, go to: https://checkout.gethapn.com/.
- Follow the activation steps to create your account and activate your tracker.
- Once you see the success message on the Checkout page, you can log in to the tracking platform:
- Going to app.gethapn.com from your computer
- Going to our website, gethapn.com and clicking “Login”
- Downloading our mobile apps:
- Download Hapn for iOS
- Download Hapn for Android
Once you’re logged into your tracking applications, you’ll need to make sure your tracker is connected by following the steps below.
Step 3 - Charging
- Plug the USB cable and AC Adapter from the box into the tracker. The device will reject charge from most USB-C cables from other devices, so it's important to keep the original cable for this device handy.
- The red PWR LED will light up then begin flashing every second while charging is in progress, and will turn solid red when the device reaches 100%. Please note: Our app only gets updated battery level info when the tracker is sending positional messages to us, so you will not see the percentage of battery going up on our apps when the tracker is asleep. As long as the red light is flashing, everything is fine.
- Charge for up to 8 hours until the red LED turns solid.
- Disconnect from charger. Red LED will go out.
Step 4 - Placement of the tracker
If the device goes inside the car, we recommend under the passenger seat:
- lights side up, back on the floor
- close to windows as possible
-
avoid metals between the tracker and windows - no trunk, no glove box, no center console
If the device goes outside the car in the magnetic case, we recommend attaching to the frame under the doors on either side:
- device face up in case, but case hangs upside down - tracker lights and case lid point straight down to the pavement
- signal is bouncing off the ground, not going through the car, so 6"+ from vehicle edges is too far
- no bumpers, no arm's length from the edge, no wheel wells
Here is an article describing both placement options: Where should I place the tracker for use on a vehicle?
Important Facts
- The Atlas tracker is motion-controlled to update every 5/30/60 seconds while moving and every 3 hours when stopped.
- The more frequently the device is set to update when in motion, the faster the battery will be depleted. On the Performance setting with 5-second updates in motion, the device can live 3-7 days, on Fast 30-second mode it can live 7-10 days, and on Normal 60-second mode it can live 10-14 days based on a couple of hours driving per day. Driving more hours per day than this will deplete the battery faster as well.
- When the device is on, the green LED will flash once every 3 seconds to indicate it is maintaining its cell connection at all times.
- When powering off, the red LED will begin flashing after holding the power button down for 3 seconds, then red & green & possibly even the blue will flash for about 60 seconds before all lights go out to indicate it is powered off.
FAQs
Question
The app says 'configure your tracker'.
Answer
This means the device has not yet connected to cell to begin reporting positions to us. Click on the 'Configure your tracker' option and it will walk through setting up your tracker.
Question
What should I do if my device says “last updated X days ago,” or "Offline"?
Answer
Both messages mean the device hasn't checked in with our platform recently. You'll need to troubleshoot with your device in order: Power → Cell → GPS.
POWER
When powered on, the green LED flashes at all times — the speed of the flash indicates cell status, not power, so any green flashing means power is fine.
- If no lights are flashing, press and hold the Power button (top end) for 3+ seconds, or plug in the original USB-C cable.
- While charging, the red PWR LED flashes rapidly for the entire charge and turns solid red at 100%.
CELL
A fast green blink (once per second) means no cell connection; a slow blink (every 3 seconds) means connected. If you're seeing the fast blink:
- Reboot: Unplug the charger, hold the Power button 3+ seconds until the red light flashes; all lights turn off after 45–60 seconds. Hold the Power button 3+ seconds again to boot up. Connecting can take a few minutes — the green blink shifts from fast to slow when it succeeds.
- Reseat the SIM: If the fast blink continues, power the device off, remove the two screws on the side SIM tray (screwdriver included in the box), firmly reseat the tray, and reboot.
- Check coverage: The device may have no nearby cell towers — move it to an area with better coverage and see if it connects. If you're outside continental North America, the device needs the International configuration, which must be applied while it's still connected in its home region — contact support before traveling.
GPS (SATELLITE)
If power and cell are fine but the platform shows a recent update from an incorrect location, the blue GPS LED will blink continuously — it can't lock on satellites.
- Take the tracker outside with the lights-and-button side facing open sky and keep it moving for 5–10 minutes. The blue LED turns solid when it locks (it may turn off afterward to save power — both are normal).
- If it still won't lock: reboot the unit; press and hold the SOS button 3+ seconds, repeating as needed; or place the device face up on your dashboard under the windshield and drive around for several minutes.
