Overview
Your GL300 tracker uses three LED indicator lights to communicate its current status. Understanding these lights helps you quickly identify connection issues, battery status, and whether your tracker is operating normally.
LED Indicator Locations
The GL300 has three status LEDs arranged vertically:
- Blue LED (Top): GPS connection status
- Red LED (Middle): Power and battery status
- Green LED (Bottom): Cellular network connection status
Blue GPS LED (Top)
What it indicates
The GPS LED shows whether your tracker can determine its location using GPS satellites.
Normal behavior patterns
- Blinking: Searching for GPS satellites
- Solid blue: Successfully connected to GPS satellites with good signal
- Off/Dark: GPS is either in standby mode or has lost signal
Testing GPS connection
To check if your GPS is working:
- Move the tracker to an outdoor location with clear sky visibility
- If GPS is functioning, the blue LED should light up within 2-3 minutes
- The LED may alternate between blinking and solid as it maintains satellite connection
Note: GPS signals can be blocked by buildings, dense tree cover, or metal enclosures.
Red Power LED (Middle)
What it indicates
The power LED displays battery and charging status, including low battery warnings.
Normal behavior patterns
- Fast flashing while charging: Battery is currently charging
- Solid red while charging: Battery is fully charged
- Slow flashing during operation: Low battery warning - charge soon
- Brief flash during power on/off: Normal startup/shutdown indicator
- Off during normal operation: Normal behavior when battery level is adequate and not charging
Battery status indicators
- Slow flashing red: Your battery is running low and needs charging soon
- Fast flashing red: Battery is actively charging
- Solid red: Battery is fully charged (while connected to charger)
- If the red LED won't light up when charging, your battery may be completely depleted - allow 30-60 minutes of charging before the LED appears
Green Cellular LED (Bottom)
What it indicates
The cellular LED shows your tracker's connection to the Hapn platform through cellular networks.
Normal behavior patterns
- Slow blinking (once every 3 seconds): Good cellular connection - normal operation
- Rapid blinking (once per second): Actively attempting to connect to cellular network
- Off/Dark: Tracker is in standby mode or has no cellular connection
Connection troubleshooting
If you see rapid blinking for more than 5-10 minutes:
- Move to an area with better cellular coverage
- Take the tracker outside if it's currently indoors
- Try rebooting the tracker (see our GL300 Reboot Guide)
Tip: You can wake the tracker from standby by pressing the SOS button or performing a reboot.
Common LED Patterns
Blue (GPS) | Red (Power) | Green (Cellular) | What it means | Action needed |
---|---|---|---|---|
Solid | Off | Slow blink | Normal operation | None |
Blinking | Off | Slow blink | Acquiring GPS signal | Wait 2-5 minutes |
Off | Off | Rapid blink | GPS lost, connecting to cellular | Move to open area |
Any | Slow flash | Any | Low battery warning | Charge tracker soon |
Off | Fast flash | Off | Charging, standby mode | None while charging |
Any | Solid | Any | Fully charged (on charger) | Ready for use |
Off | Off | Off | Powered off or deep standby | Press power button |
Troubleshooting LED Issues
No lights at all
- Check if tracker is powered on (press power button)
- Connect to charger if battery may be depleted
- If still no lights after charging, contact support
Blue LED won't turn solid
- Move tracker to outdoor location with clear sky view
- Remove from metal enclosures or vehicles
- Allow up to 10 minutes for GPS acquisition
Green LED blinks rapidly for extended periods
- Check cellular coverage in your area
- Try moving to a different location
- Reboot the tracker following our guide
- If problem persists after 30 minutes, contact support
Red LED won't light during charging
- Verify charging cable is properly connected
- Try a different power outlet
- Check for visible damage to charging port
- Battery may be completely depleted - allow 1 hour of charging
Red LED shows slow flashing during operation
- This indicates low battery - charge your tracker as soon as possible
- The tracker may shut down soon if not charged
- Connect to charger immediately to avoid losing tracking capability
When to Contact Support
Contact Hapn support if you experience:
- LEDs showing unusual patterns not described in this guide
- Lights that don't respond to troubleshooting steps
- Physical damage to LED indicators
- Persistent connection issues after following troubleshooting steps
Before contacting support, try the basic troubleshooting steps and note:
- Which LEDs are affected
