Applies to: Hapn Atlas Mini · Platform: the Hapn mobile app and the web app at app.gethapn.com.
The Atlas Mini Tracker is ideal for uses that require small size. It is ultraportable, giving you the flexibility to utilize the tracker almost anywhere.
This manual will help you get started. Welcome to Hapn.
What's in the box
- 5-pin charger
- Tracker
Step 1 - Locate your IMEI
Locate the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number on the bottom of your tracker. The number is 15 characters long. You will need to enter it to set up your account.
Step 2 - Activate your tracker
- From your computer or smartphone, go to: checkout.gethapn.com
- Follow the activation steps. Tip: Keep your tracker IMEI handy.
- Login to the tracking app by:
- Going to app.gethapn.com from your computer
- Going to our website, gethapn.com and clicking “Login”
- Downloading our mobile apps:
- Download Hapn for iOS
- Download Hapn for Android
- Once you’re logged into your tracking applications, you’ll need to make sure your tracker is connected by following the steps below.
Finding your tracker's settings in the app: on the mobile app, tap the tracker on the Live screen, then Settings on its card; on the web, select the tracker on the Live Map, then Settings. Reporting Mode is near the top. Ping, Reboot and the hardware options for your model are under Advanced Settings. Reporting Mode, Ping and Reboot each apply with their own button; tap or click Save for name, icon and switch changes.
Step 3 - Charging
- Plug in wall charger, then connect charger to micro tracker. The magnets on the 5 pin connector ensure the charger will only snap on the correct way.
- Power LED will flash red while charging, and will turn solid white when fully charged.
- Charge for at least 2-3 hours, or until the LED turns solid white.
- Disconnect from charger. The LEDs will go out.
Step 4 - Placement of the tracker
If the device goes inside the cabin of the vehicle, we recommend under the passenger seat:
- lights side up, back on the floor
- close to windows as possible
- avoid metals between the tracker and windows - no trunk, no glove box, no center console
If the device is being carried around with a person, the goal is to expose the face side of the unit to open sky as much as possible.
Important Facts
- The Atlas Mini’s update frequency is set by its reporting mode. You can choose modes that update based on movement and stops, or modes that update on a time interval (for example, every hour or every 24 hours). See Reporting Modes: How to Adjust Your Tracker’s Update Frequency.
- The more frequently the device is set to update, the faster the battery will be depleted. For example, 1-minute updates with an hour of movement per day will result in approximately 12.5 days of battery life, while 1-minute updates with 4 hours of movement per day will result in approximately 4 days of battery life.
- Because of the Mini device's ultra-small size, it does have smaller antenna for cell and satellite reception than some of our full sized units, so it is very important to get good placement of the device to maximize its view of open sky and ensure there is no connection loss.
- The device is alternating the cell connection on and off even during travel, so it can often fail to receive commands sent from the tracker settings. Connecting the charger to the device will allow it to keep the cell connection open and maximizes the device's ability to receive commands.
FAQs
Question
My device's location isn't showing on the map.
Answer
Make sure the device is powered on by pressing the face button, and you should see the light come on immediately when the button is pressed, which indicates the unit was already powered on and you are triggering the SOS function. After the device is confirmed to be powered on, take it outside to expose it to open sky and keep it moving while pressing and holding the face button to force it to send us a position.
Question
My tracker says it's online, but is showing the wrong location.
Answer
This means the device may not have a strong GPS signal. Take it outside to open sky for a 10-minute walk or drive, and its location should update more accurately.
Question
What should I do if my device is still not updating after troubleshooting?
Answer
Verify that the device is on a Normal or higher reporting mode so that motion should be triggering it to report. Verify the device is powered on by pressing the face button to see immediate white light. Verify the device is in a populated area with excellent cellular coverage.
