LED Light Locations
Your OBD GPS tracker has two LED indicator lights located on the end of the device that faces outward when plugged into your vehicle's OBD port:
- Blue LED: GPS connection status
- Green LED: Cellular network connection status
What Each Light Means
Blue LED (GPS Connection)
Purpose: Shows whether your tracker can determine its location using GPS satellites.
- Blinking blue: Searching for GPS satellites
- Solid blue: Successfully connected to GPS satellites with good signal
- Off/Dark: Device is in standby mode or has lost GPS signal
Green LED (Cellular Connection)
Purpose: Shows your tracker's connection to the Hapn platform through cellular networks.
- Slow blinking (once every 3 seconds): Good cellular connection - normal operation
- Rapid blinking (once per second): Actively attempting to connect to cellular network
- Off/Dark: No cellular connection or device in standby mode
Normal Operation Patterns
Optimal Performance
What you should see: Blue LED solid + Green LED slow blinking
- Your tracker has both GPS location and cellular connectivity
- Location updates are being sent to your Hapn account normally
Acquiring Signal
What you might see: Blue LED blinking + Green LED slow blinking
- GPS is connecting to satellites (normal in new locations)
- Cellular connection is good
- Action: Wait 2-5 minutes for GPS to connect
Connection Issues
What you might see: Blue LED solid/blinking + Green LED rapid blinking
- GPS may be working but cellular connection is poor
- Action: Drive to an area with better cellular coverage
Troubleshooting Light Issues
No Lights At All
Possible causes:
- Device not properly inserted in OBD port
- OBD port not providing power
- Vehicle ignition not turned on
Solutions:
- Remove and reinsert the tracker firmly into the OBD port
- Try rotating the tracker if it doesn't fit easily one way
- Turn on your vehicle's ignition
- Consult your vehicle's owner manual for OBD port information
Blue Light Won't Turn Solid
Possible causes:
- Obstructed GPS signal (underground, covered parking)
- Poor GPS reception area
Solutions:
- Drive to an open outdoor area
- Wait 5-10 minutes for GPS acquisition
- Check if tracker is blocked by metal dashboard components
Green Light Blinks Rapidly for Extended Time
Possible causes:
- Poor cellular coverage
- Network connectivity issues
Solutions:
- Drive to an area with better cellular signal
- Wait 10-15 minutes for connection to establish
- Try restarting by unplugging and reinserting the tracker
