Using the Tracker Positions Report

Tracker Positions

All the data the trackers generate. That is in essence what this report gives you. The data is unprocessed, and simply the raw messages generated by the devices. This is the ultimate deep dive report, letting you see the second-by-second behavior as needed.

Across the top we have the tracker name, date, time, GPS date, GPS time, coordinates, address, speed, odometer, and battery. These are the raw data points that come from the GPS tracker when they report the positions to us. Some key things to know about these data points are the differences between the two listings of date and time. The "date" and "time" columns show the date and time that the position report hit the platform. The "GPS date" and "GPS time" shows the date and time that the tracker recorded the position. Under normal operating conditions, there will always be a 2-second difference between these two times. This is the time it takes for our platform to receive the message, process it, and then get it displayed on the platform. There is no need to alarm unless you are seeing large gaps in the data. This can indicate a situation in which the tracker did not have a cellular signal. When this happens, it can hold messages until it reconnects to the cellular network, giving us the difference in recorded times. 

This is the report you use to dig into the individual breaks into the patterns that the other reporting tools can provide. One important thing to note, this report will be a large report in terms of pure data. If your tracker is on Fast Mode, the sheer number of listings here can become unwieldy. We strongly advise using the filters to really get into the specific trip or day in question. This is a very granular report, designed to be as precise with a long-form as we can.
